What does your ideal home look like?

What does my ideal home look like?

This question couldn’t have come at a better time, as I am currently in the process of purchasing my first home! As of now, I am still on the hunt for the perfect house. It is so hard in our current economy to find a house that won’t fall over by the time I close the deal. If it looks nice, it has internal problems, if it’s structurally sound, its hideous. Sure it’s a first home so it won’t most likely end up being my dream home, but because I have such a vision for what I want I have a hard time accepting that I may not find exactly what I’m looking for.

From a very young age I have always appreciated and older more antique style, my parents often wondered where this little 6 year old girl with the fashion sense of a 70 year old style came from. They always thought I would grow out of it, but I never did. While my style is a little more refined now, I still have such a love for antique and vintage styles of all kinds, and that includes when it comes to my future home.

When I got my first apartment, it was the first time I could finally express myself more freely, and I loved every second of it. I decided to go full on antique with the deep wood tones, antique furniture I thrifted, gold hairbrush and mirrors, a big gold framed canopy bed, it was perfect, and made me so excited for the day I could actually paint my walls and make my house look however I wanted.

So what does my ideal home look like? Hopefully when I step into my future home it will be like being transported back into time, with box molding on the walls, antique gold hardware, floral wallpaper, antique furniture, ornate wall sconces, taper candles, antique kitchenware, vintage wall art with gold frames, and a stained glass window or two.

I can’t wait for the day I finally find the perfect house for me, and I get to transform it into the home of my dreams. While it may not be for everyone, I personally can’t wait to wash away the millennial grey floors, white marble countertops, black hardware, and white paint on everything, and bring life and color back into style.
